About NISSTA

North Indian Sugarcane & Sugar Technologists Association was formed in the year 2015 with an objective for dissemination of knowledge through consultative and participatory process in seminars and conventions.

Indian sugar industry is spread across the state of Uttar Pradesh , Haryana, Uttarakhand, Bihar , and Punjab contributes nearly 40% sugar in national basket. Besides, it also produces significant amount of alcohol and power in the country.

The industry provides employment to large numbers of skilled & unskilled workers, and also supports livelihoods of the farming community. Owing to climatic conditions, productivity of sugarcane and sugar, disparity in prices of raw material and finished goods, landlocked geography of the region, and inconsistent policies, the industry faces innumerable challenges in carrying out its business and competing with its counterparts in the western and southern region.

North Indian Sugarcane & Sugar Technologists’ Association (NISSTA) works to ensure the well being of nearly 180 sugar factories along with associated professionals, work force and millions of farmers in the northern region. The Association strives to solve the issues of the sector largely in 1 consultation along with the industry experts, scientists, research institutions, farmers and respective ministries of the concerned state Governments.
